SJC commenced their title defense impressively by taking the first set 25–16. However, VFCSS showed resilience, rallying from a five-point deficit midway through the second set.
With determination and teamwork, they edged past the defending champions, winning the set 25–20 and setting the tone for a thrilling conclusion. Fueled by their momentum, VFCSS dominated the third set, clinching the match with a score of 15–8.
In another match, last year’s finalists, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC), bounced back impressively, defeating Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) in straight sets, with scores of 25–15 and 25–18.
The final match of the day was a nail-biter, featuring Vieux Fort Post-Secondary (VFPS) and Micoud Secondary School (MSS). MSS took an early lead by winning the first set 25–22, in a contest that could have gone either way.
During the break, VFPS regrouped and came back strong, winning the second set 25–19 to force a decisive third set. The final set was a rollercoaster, with both teams exchanging leads.
Ultimately, Micoud Secondary held their nerve, clinching the victory with a score of 18–16.
The action continued on Wednesday, February 18, at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex (VMPSC) with the following matches in the male division:
– Game 1 (Group A): Sir Arthur Lewis Community College vs. Castries Comprehensive Secondary School
– Game 2 (Group A): Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School vs. Vieux Fort Comprehensive
– Game 3 (Group B): St. Mary’s College vs. Micoud Secondary
School fans are eagerly looking forward to another day of exciting volleyball action!
