The Saint Lucia-China Friendship Association (SLCFA) joins the world in congratulating Chinese people everywhere today, as two billion welcome the Year of the Horse.

The Horse, for China and other parts of Asia, is a symbol of Bravery, Energy, Freedom, Loyalty, Perseverance, Speed and Strength.

These qualities are all reflected in the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) constant economic growth over the past four decades, from the advent of the era of leadership from Premier Deng Xiaoping to President Xi Jinping.

The PRC’s ever-booming economy is both self-dependent and intertwined with the world economy, placing it today among the powerful nations on the world stage, leading global development in several areas — from Scientific and Technological Innovation to Supporting the UN Sustainable Goals and Contributions to Peace, Friendship and International Diplomacy.

China continues planning its future according to its history, culture and traditions, based on Chinese characteristics.

The Horse being celebrated today is not one that gallops into wars but always paces ahead in Promotion and Defence of Peace and Love for All, through Friendship, Uniting Humanity on Planet Earth.

It’s China’s Horse of 2026 that will move with the wind and pace itself according to the terrain, in whatever season.

China starts this Lunar New Year maintaining its usual record of achieving set economic goals and continuing to lead the world’s developing nations in their resolve to take control of their resources, in their own interests.

Developing nations continue to suffer from disproportionate recognition of their historical rights to equality without discrimination, but South-South dialogue is also accelerating at a galloping pace, especially with China’s cooperation.

The People’s Republic of China (PRC) continues to enjoy ties with the vast majority of member-states of the United Nations (UN) and its recent global initiatives promoting Peace, Development, Cooperation, Security and Friendship for and between people everywhere, have received impressive responses from nations worldwide.

Recent developments in Venezuela and Cuba have drawn reassurances from Beijing that China will never abandon its friends; and its traditional and growing trade and friendship with Latin America and the Caribbean will not be derailed by escalated aggression, or by cowardly punishment of China’s friends.

China’s reliable friendship is demonstrated every day worldwide and the SLCFA is confident Beijing will not be cowered into stifling its historical friendships with Latin America and the Caribbean.

After 22 years promoting friendship between Saint Lucian and Chinese People, the SLCFA starts the Year of the Horse entering another era of adjustment, to further strengthen its local capacity and deepen ties with its dozens of fellow Friendship Associations in the Caribbean and Latin America.

The association has launched its website, which also hosts a unique news agency reflecting local, regional and global realities.

The news platform is called Sun and Silk Communications Agency (SASCA) and can be found at sascaonline.com — in ten (10) languages: Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

The SLCFA is also planning two major activities for early 2026:  its next Annual General Meeting, to elect a new leadership and structure; and the official launch of sascaonline.com – both with messages from the Caribbean, Latin America and China.
