
Saint Lucia’s most accomplished gospel singer Shirleyann Cyril-Mayers has released her latest music project. Her latest single is called “I am not ashamed” in which she defends her commitment to minister the word of God through music which she has done practically all her life.
The gospel songstress who has been named the local Queen of Gospel was born into a music family aided by her involvement in the art during her early years at the Labayee Seventh Adventist Church. Her love for song was recognized during her formative years, often being the standout performer at local events.
Shirleyann’s brother, well known SDA Pastor Roger Stephens, remembers their mother being a pillar of strength instilling lifelong values in the young singer’s seemingly limitless potential.
Cyril-Mayers has participated extensively in local and regional competitions over the years going on to place second in the highly acclaimed Caribbean Broadcast Union song festival at the age of 17.
Four decades on she still commands respect as a legendary gospel powerhouse getting honored at the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards in New York.
Here in St. Lucia, some of the collaborators on her musical journey paid tribute to the undisputed Queen of Gospel as she prepared to launch her latest single.The single was officially launched at an event organised by the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.
The single written by Shirleyann was curated by renowned producer Danyl Daniel.
Shirleyann is currently working on a music video for that single.
