School Sports Season Kicks Off with Excitement

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports has officially launched the 2025-2026 School Sports Season with an Under-19 Basketball tournament that began yesterday (September 30) at the Beausejour Indoor Facility in Gros Islet.

Twelve secondary schools are set to compete fiercely in this tournament, organized into two competitive groups. Group A includes the defending champions, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College {SALCC}; runners-up Soufriere Comprehensive; and other strong contenders namely Castries Comprehensive, Entrepot Secondary, Corinth Secondary, and Choiseul Secondary.

In Group B, watch for St. Mary’s College, Leon Hess Comprehensive, and Patricia D. James Secondary, last year’s proud third-place finisher, along with Vieux Fort Comprehensive, Micoud Secondary, and Beanefield Comprehensive.

Group A kicked off with the reigning champions, Sir Arthur Lewis, against Castries Comprehensive, while Soufriere Comprehensive faced off against Entrepot Secondary at noon.

In Group B, St. Mary’s College went head-to-head with Vieux Fort Comprehensive, while Patricia D. James Secondary aimed to assert its strength against Leon Hess Comprehensive.

A total of 38 matches are scheduled leading up to the quarterfinals on October 28, followed by the semifinals on October 30, and culminating in the championship showdown on November 4, 2025.
