
Team Saint Lucia placed third in the recently concluded ECCB Netball Championship , played in Grenada, with an impressive performance.
However , it was St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) that earned the title of 2025 ECCB Netball Champions, despite a tight loss to Grenada at the Tanteen hard courts in Grenada this Sunday.
Grenada showcased their skills by winning the match 64 – 63 in the fifth ECCB International Netball Series, momentarily halting SVG’s winning streak that had persisted since 2024.
Nonetheless, SVG was rightfully crowned the 2025 ECCB International Netball Series champion based on a superior goal average.
Grenada led the game in every quarter: 16 – 9, 33 – 28, 52 – 43, and finished 64 – 63, winning by a mere single goal.
This result echoed the dramatic 2023 finale in Antigua, where SVG narrowly lost the title to Grenada by one goal, 34 – 33.
Key player Lottysha Cato spearheaded Grenada’s efforts with 56 goals from 61 attempts, supported by Celina Brown who contributed 8 goals from 10 attempts.
For SVG, goal-shooter Maryann Frederick dominated with 56 goals from 59 attempts, and Shellisa Davis added another 7 goals from 8 attempts.
The final championship table reflects SVG’s superiority: – SVG – 16 points, goal difference +272
– Grenada – 12 points, goal difference +167
– Saint Lucia – 12 points, goal difference +73 Maryann
Frederick earned the title of Most Accurate Shooter with an impressive shooting accuracy of 92.06%, totaling 429 goals from 466 attempts over 9 matches.
Lottysha Cato of Grenada closely followed with a shooting accuracy of 85.05%, scoring 330 goals from 388 attempts across 8 matches.
