Boxing is becoming increasingly popular on the island, and the Saint Lucia Boxing Association (SLBA) is actively working to involve more young females in the sport.
In partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, and under the guidance of Coach Conrad Fredericks, the Vigie boxing gym has reopened its doors to students from Saint Joseph’s Convent Secondary (SJC).
As the new school year begins, Coach Fredericks emphasised the importance of safety and structure in boxing during the first session. He is eager to witness the progress of these students throughout the term and beyond.
During the training sessions, a group of eight Form V students learned the basics of stance and movement, marking the start of their boxing journey.
