On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, officers from the Babonneau Police Station and Major Crimes Unit responded to a homicide in Balata, Babonneau, where a 23-year-old male was fatally shot.
An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest. The Major Crimes Unit, with support from the Babonneau Police Station and the Scenes of Crime Office, conducted a thorough investigation.
On Sunday, September 8, 2024, 34-year-old Ashton Deedan Noel of Ti Morne, Union, was arrested in connection with the homicide.
On Friday, September 13, 2024, Ashton Deedan Noel was formally cautioned and charged with murder. Following a bail application before the Magistrates’ Court, he was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
