Saint Lucia Hosts 2024 OECS Invitational Boxing Championships

The 2024 Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Invitational Boxing Championships culminate today (Saturday) at the Vigie Multi-purpose Complex (VMPSC) in Saint Lucia. The tournament, which began yesterday (Friday), features ten other countries vying for the coveted championship title alongside the host.

Organized by the Saint Lucia Boxing Association (SLBA) in collaboration with the Office of the OECS and the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, the championship showcases the talents of approximately 90 boxers across four divisions.

Tournament Director Shannon Labourne expressed confidence, stating, “The planning for the tournament is 90% complete. Attendees at the VMPSC can expect two days of non-stop action and enjoyment.”

Representing defending champions Saint Lucia, the 21-member boxing team includes Nikaela Khodra (female), Kurt Kirton, Keegan Mortley, Jack Surage, Bernard Joseph, Orlando Monrose, Daniel Martin, Denzel Steven, Joshua Rene, Lammed Alexander, Aiden Michael Gerald, Herve Charlemagne, Nervon Mederick, Gimel Alexander, Dev Sealy, Myles Henry, Ervin Thomas, Elroy Canchon, Danaii Cooman, Kyle Marcel, and John Didier (male).

Head coach Conrad Fredericks leads the team, with assistant coaches Yunior Quinter Perez and Arthur Langillier providing guidance throughout the championship.
