One man is dead following a confrontation with police in the wee hours of this morning. The vehicle in which the deceased was in failed to stop when ordered by police to do so.
THE VOICE has been reliably informed that the vehicle was being chased by police who were operating on a tip-off that the occupants had engaged in a robbery.
THE VOICE further learned that the vehicle which ended up in a ditch, had six occupants on board including the deceased. The five others, two females and three males are presently in police custody.
Dead is Maxwell Leon, aka Hennessy, the presumed driver of the vehicle. He sustained gunshot injuries allegedly by police. THE Voice has been informed by law enforcement that a thorough investigation is currently underway to determined what went down this morning at about 2:00am on the West Coast of the island.
A gun was found in the vehicle and jewellery, according to reports reaching THE VOICE.
THE VOICE has since learned that prior to this morning’s incident, Leon was on bail on a firearm’s charge.
