The age-old war in the various sporting arenas in various countries where competition takes place, once again was given front row viewership when Barbados and Saint Lucia clashed yesterday morning, Tuesday February 15, 2022 in the playing of their postponed game in the 2022 OECS/ECCB International Netball Series.

The game was forcibly postponed by rain last Sunday when the second edition of the OECS/ECCB International Netball Series got off to a colourful start at the Windsor Park hard-court.

A late fourth quarter surge by Saint Lucia with just under three minutes remaining forced their opponents onto the backfoot, but time was the key factor as the final whistle proved. Barbados had, at the start of the second quarter, scored six unanswered goals which proved to be decisive.

Saint Lucia lost by a six-goal margin 41-35, the same number of unanswered goals that Barbados scored at the beginning of the second quarter. The quarter scores were 10-7 Saint Lucia, 20-16 Barbados, 32-25 Barbados, and 41-35 Barbados.

Leading the victory charge for the Bajans was goal-shooter Faye Agard who scored 28 of 35 attempts taken, and goal-attack Brianna Holder scored 13 of 20 attempts.

For Saint Lucia, goal-shooter Roxanne netted 15 of 18 attempts, goal-attack Meagan Nestor scored 11 of 19 attempts, and Shem Maxwell who was moved from goal-defence to goal-attack, scored 9 out of 11 attempts taken.

Saint Lucia now has one win out of two games played, while Barbados joins St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the top of the standings with 100-percent records to date; two victories out of two games played.
