SLNCA Super 50 Men’s Tournament Round-Up: Gros Islet Dominates Championships

Gros Islet continued their impressive unbeaten streak in the 2026 SLNCA Super 50 Championship with a commanding 190-run victory over Vieux Fort North on September 19, held at the Francis “Baba” Lastic Ground, in Gros Islet.

Choosing to bat first, Gros Islet amassed a formidable 323 for 8 in 26 overs, driven by Jard Goodman’s explosive 123 off 65 balls and Tyrel Chicot’s aggressive 87 off 45. Vieux Fort North struggled in reply, finishing at 133 for 9. Isaiah Jones led Gros Islet’s bowling attack with 2 for 6.

In other matchup, Babonneau took the top spot in Group A, sweeping their games against Dennery and Choiseul. South Castries earned a first win, defeating Vieux Fort by 10 wickets. Mon Repos and Central Castries also recorded solid victories in Group C.

The second round of the SLNCA Super 50 Men’s tournament showcased six half-centuries and two impressive five-wicket hauls, while the playoff picture began to take shape. From September 12 to 13, six exciting matches were held across three venues.

In Group A, Babonneau topped the standings, defeating Dennery by 78 runs at Mindoo Phillip Park and Choiseul by eight wickets at La Fargue Playing Field. On September 12, Babonneau put forth a formidable total of 269 for 7 against Dennery, with Shervon Joseph leading the charge with 66 runs and Qwaine Henry contributing a solid 50. Dennery, despite a valiant 63 from Kernan Henry, was bowled out for 191.

In Group A, Babonneau continued their strong form on September 13, restricting Choiseul to a mere 128 runs. Yunieski Gustave was the star with the ball, taking 5 wickets for 26 runs. South Castries chased down the target comfortably in 17.1 overs, thanks to runs from Caleb Thomas (34) and captain Qwaine Henry (31 not out).

After suffering their second consecutive loss, Choiseul’s hopes of qualification are waning, as they trail behind unbeaten leaders Babonneau (2-0), Micoud (1-1), and Dennery (0-1).

In Group B, South Castries secured their first win of the tournament, decisively defeating Vieux Fort by 10 wickets at La Fargue. Vieux Fort struggled, being bowled out for just 70 runs in 15.4 overs, with Simeon Gerson claiming 3 wickets for 14 runs, supported by Daniel Jn Baptiste and Kenrick James, who each took two wickets. Ephron Charles shone for South Castries, scoring 53 runs in just 20 balls, leading his team to a successful chase of 72 without loss.
