The government has announced a new pricing structure for fuel, which includes a significant increase in the cost of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), raising concerns among local consumers.

In a recent statement, authorities explained that the adjustments were made in accordance with fluctuations in international oil prices and the application of a modified market pass-through petroleum pricing mechanism.

As part of this update, the retail prices for gasoline, diesel, and LPG have been revised, although the price of kerosene will remain unchanged.

These new prices will take effect from September 14, 2026, and will be applicable for a three-week period ending October 4, 2026.

The revised retail prices are as follows:

– Gasoline: increased from $16.75 to $17.25 per imperial gallon (from $3.68 to $3.79 per litre).

– Diesel: increased from $16.75 to $17.25 per imperial gallon (from $3.68 to $3.79 per litre).

– Kerosene: unchanged at $10.41 per imperial gallon ($2.29 per litre).

– LPG 20-lb cylinder: increased from $34.00 to $36.00 per cylinder.

– LPG 22-lb cylinder: increased from $38.00 to $40.00 per cylinder.

– LPG 100-lb cylinder: increased from $288.50 to $314.88 per cylinder.

– Bulk LPG: increased from $2.76 to $3.02 per pound.

To mitigate the impact of rising international prices on consumers, the government will continue to subsidize petroleum products. These subsidies will remain in effect for diesel, kerosene, and all LPG products during the period from September 14 to October 4, 2026.

The adjustments are a reflection of movements in international crude oil and refined petroleum product prices during the reference period from August 17 to September 6, 2026.

During this time, the average price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil increased by 6.7 percent to US$86.08 per barrel.
