Law enforcement officers have charged three individuals with drug and gun-related offenses following a coordinated police operation in the northern zone.
On Wednesday, July 29, around 3:00 a.m., officers from the Northern Division Operations Team, along with the Gros Islet Criminal Investigations Department, General Duties, Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit (GNFU), Special Operations Team (SOT), and Special Services Unit (SSU), conducted a joint operation in Gros Islet town and Degazon.
This operation was part of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s proactive policing efforts leading up to the Gros Islet Carnival weekend.
During the operation, officers arrested twenty-five-year-old Linus Clovis, alias “Lucky”, after executing a search warrant at a residence on Notre Dame Street, where they seized a firearm magazine.
A search at another residence on Dauphin Street led to the seizure of a quantity of suspected cannabis, resulting in the arrest of forty-one-year-old Ronald Charles.
In Degazon, officers seized cannabis plants and seedlings, leading to the arrest of twenty-seven-year-old Joshua Thomas, who was charged with Possession of Controlled Drugs and Possession with Intent to Supply.
On Thursday, July 30, Thomas appeared before the First District Court and was granted bail of $1,500.00 for each charge, with the case adjourned to October 7, 2026.
On July 30, Linus Clovis was formally charged with Possession of a Component Part of a Firearm. He was granted bail of $20,000.00 in cash, land documents, or suitable surety during a hearing on July 31. He is required to surrender all travel documents, not leave the state without court permission, and report to the Gros Islet Divisional Headquarters every Saturday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. His case is adjourned to September 9, 2026.
Ronald Charles was also formally charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug and Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply on July 30.
During his court appearance on July 31, he was granted bail of $2,000.00 for the first charge and $1,000.00 for the second, with similar travel restrictions as Clovis. His matter is likewise adjourned to September 9, 2026.
