New Regulations for Road March Competition

Artists are being called to elevate their performances for this season’s Lucian Carnival, as the organizers have introduced new regulations for entries in the Road March competition.

The Carnival Planning and Management Committee (CPMC) has announced a formal registration process for the annual competition. This change represents a significant step towards enhancing the structure and ensuring transparency within this vibrant aspect of the Lucian Carnival.

The Road March title is awarded to the song that prevails during the two-day parade, judged at key anonymous points along the route. To be eligible for consideration, artists must now officially register their entries.

New Regulations:

Eligibility – Songs must be released after the conclusion of the previous Carnival season.
– Artists must be Saint Lucian nationals or residents. In cases with multiple artists, at least one must be Saint Lucian.
– Entries must be registered with the CPMC by the published deadline.

Registration & Submission

– All entries must be submitted electronically using the official entry form.
– Submissions must include a completed entry form and an audio file (MP3/WAV).
– Late submissions will not be accepted.

Judging Criteria

– Play Count Method: The Road March winner is the song played most frequently at designated judging points along the parade route from Mega J to Castries on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.

Judging Schedule

Carnival Monday: Judging begins at 10:00 AM at designated points.
– Carnival Tuesday: Final judging continues along the parade route, with results announced the following day.

Prizes

– Cash Award: EC$10,000
– Trophy: Official Road March Champion Trophy
– Title: Declared as the Road March Champion of Lucian Carnival

Disqualification

– Songs that are not registered or submitted by the deadline.
– Songs not played at designated judging points.

Announcement

– The Road March winner will be announced on the Wednesday immediately following Lucian Carnival.
The CPMC recognizes the Road March as the song that defines the Lucian Carnival experience, resonating with revelers both local and international. This structured competition aims to strengthen the platform and enhance recognition for the artists and producers who contribute to the unique sound and spirit of Lucian Carnival.
