World Cup Qualifiers: A Battle of the Saints

Today (Saturday), Saint Lucia faces off against St. Vincent & the Grenadines (SVG) in a crucial Women’s World Cup Qualifier match at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG), kicking off at 3:00 p.m.

This marks the fourth and final match for both teams in Group A of the 2025/26 CONCACAF W Qualifiers. The encounter promises to be a thrilling ‘mini-derby’ between these sub-regional neighbors, as they vie for a coveted qualifying spot.

SVG recently secured a 1-nil victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands on April 14, marking their first win in the qualifiers. In contrast, Saint Lucia is in search of their first victory in the group after a challenging 0-7 defeat against Mexico.

The Piton Girlz are determined to turn their fortunes around, currently sitting at the bottom of Group A and aiming to conclude their campaign on a high note. With SVG ranked just above them, today’s match is pivotal.

The local squad has been engaged in a rigorous training regimen to prepare for this crucial encounter. Physical fitness and stamina are vital factors, especially given past late-minute giveaways that have hindered their performance.

With the advantage of home turf, fan support for the Piton Girlz is expected to be enthusiastic and vibrant.

The Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc. has announced the Saint Lucia National Senior Women’s squad as follows:
