Soufriere displayed remarkable resilience to defeat Vieux Fort South and secure the SLFA Inc. Southern Zone Boys Under 20 championship title at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort on Friday, April 24.
The match was a tense and closely contested battle, ending in a 1-1 draw at the final whistle. From the outset, both teams showcased high-intensity passing, solid defense, and impressive plays, keeping fans and spectators on the edge of their seats.
Kailon Flavius broke the deadlock for Soufriere in the 45th minute, giving his team a crucial lead. The second half saw both teams ramping up their efforts.
Vieux Fort South relentlessly pursued an equalizer, which came in the 89th minute when Kevin Sylvester struck to level the score. Despite several attempts for a winning goal towards the end of the match, neither team could find the net, leading to a penalty shootout.
Soufriere emerged triumphant with a 5-4 victory.


During the post-match awards presentation; Vieux Fort received the champions trophy and gold medals, while Vieux Fort South was honored with the runners-up trophy and silver medals.
In the Third-Place clash, Choiseul faced Vieux Fort North in an exhilarating match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Both teams exhibited determination and attacking flair, exchanging goals in a thrilling contest.
Vieux Fort North initially led 1-0 at halftime, courtesy of a strike from Keshawn Charles in the 33rd minute. They extended their lead in the second half through an own goal by Shakari Faucher in the 54th minute.
However, Choiseul responded swiftly, with Christopher Montoute finding the back of the net in the 58th minute, followed by an equalizer from Devin Phillip in the 61st minute. The crowd was treated to a spirited finale, with neither side willing to concede.
Ultimately, Choiseul secured victory in the penalty shootout, winning 4-2 to claim the Third Place trophy and bronze medals.
