Law enforcement officers have made significant drug and cash seizures during an operation along the eastern coast, specifically in the Dennery and Micoud districts.
On Wednesday, April 15, a joint police operation was conducted involving officers from the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, the Special Operations Team, and the Central Intelligence Unit. This operation is part of a targeted strategy aimed at disrupting drug trafficking, intercepting illicit proceeds, and dismantling organized criminal activity.
A search warrant executed at a residence on Church Street in Dennery Village resulted in the seizure of cash totaling EC$16,000, which is suspected to be proceeds of crime. A female suspect is currently in custody and is assisting investigators.
Another search warrant was carried out at a residence in Over The Bridge, Dennery, leading to the seizure of EC$10,386.00 in cash, also believed to be proceeds of crime. A male individual was taken into custody, and this matter has been referred to the Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) for further investigation.
Additionally, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Ti Rocher, Micoud, where they discovered a quantity of suspected cannabis resin and cannabis. Peter Plante, 53, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of controlled drugs and possession with intent to supply.
He appeared before a magistrate on the same day and was granted bail set at EC$1,000 for each charge.
