Taiwan’s 114th National Day Joyously Celebrated in Saint Lucia

The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) hosted a vibrant and memorable reception in Saint Lucia to commemorate the 114th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan), highlighting the enduring friendship between the two nations.

While H.E. Governor-General Sir Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles and Lady Charles joined in the celebrations in Taiwan, dignitaries, officials, and friends of Taiwan gathered locally to mark the occasion with cultural performances, music, and culinary delights that reflected both Taiwanese and Saint Lucian traditions.

The event served as a reaffirmation of the deep bond between the two countries — one founded on shared values of democracy, resilience, and freedom. Taiwan’s representatives expressed sincere gratitude for Saint Lucia’s unwavering support and partnership on the global stage.

The evening opened with uplifting performances by talented students from St. Mary’s College and St. Joseph’s Convent Secondary School, who delivered impressive renditions of Mandarin songs “Sharing” and “Sisters.” Their heartfelt presentation showcased the beauty of cultural exchange through music and youthful spirit.

Adding to the cultural richness of the evening was a spellbinding Ladjablesse performance and a spirited musical presentation by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force Band. The Spotlight Taiwan Project collaborated with local carnival costume designers to infuse the event with motion, creativity, and color, while handwoven Taiwanese Indigenous textiles beautifully reflected the unity of Taiwanese and Saint Lucian heritage.

Guests were treated to an array of Taiwanese snacks and beverages, including shaved ice, cream puffs, peanut pancakes, and almond choco crisps, sponsored by I-MEI Foods, and paired with chilled Gold Medal Taiwan Beer, courtesy of Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation (TTL).

Culinary artistry by Chef Nicos Anthony impressed attendees with innovative dishes that blended Taiwanese and Saint Lucian island flavors. The highlight of the evening was the grand cake, crafted in the shape of Taiwan’s national flag — a sweet symbol of the growing friendship and prosperity shared by both nations.

The reception was a true celebration of vibrant culture, diplomacy, and unity, leaving guests with lasting memories of joy and gratitude.
