Industrial relations negotiations between St. Jude’s Hospital and the National Workers Union (NWU) began Tuesday.
The Management of the Hospital along with the Leadership of the (NWU) and Shop Stewards met in Vieux Fort to discuss a wide range of issues.
The parties exchanged and discussed Memorandum of Proposals which would pave the way for industrial negotiations between the medical institution and the Union.
There was an agreement in principle to expedite the collective bargaining process with minimum delay so that the employees can benefit subsequently from the provisions that would have been established in a new industrial agreement.
It is not clear when the general meeting with the employees will be held but officials of the NWU are positive that it will be soon. The meeting will be convened primarily to bring members up to date with developments in and around negotiations. The initial agreement between the two parties came to an end six months ago on March 31, 2025.
