With heightened anticipation for contesting a major southern constituency seat, the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) proudly announces the official launch of its candidate for Micoud South, Dr. Shanda Harracksingh.Â
The event takes place tomorrow, October 5, at 3:00 p.m. at the Micoud Playing Field.
An SLP release emphasizes that, “A launch of this magnitude, highlighting a candidate committed to bringing Micoud South home to its residents, demands a venue capable of accommodating the expected large turnout. The chosen location offers the necessary space, accessibility, and facilities to ensure everyone, from young families to the elderly, can participate comfortably.”
It adds that this decision reflects the SLP’s recognition of the urgent need for significant investment in the Micoud South constituency, which has suffered due to years of inadequate representation by its elected Member of Parliament.
The statement emphasizes that, Micoud South deserves representation from someone who is not an outsider, but a true local. A leader who knows the people, has grown with them, understands their needs, and can effectively communicate on their behalf.
The SLP firmly asserts that this launch marks the beginning of a new kind of leadership: one rooted in community, compassion, and lived experience.
It states that Sunday’s gathering will be a definitive statement from the people of Micoud South, who will turn out in full force: “This is not just the launch of a candidate; it is the launch of a movement for genuine representation, meaningful progress, and a future that belongs to the people. Let us move forward together.”
