Infrastructure Keeps It Clean

Cleaners at Department of Infrastructure Now Certified in Public Sector Cleaning Protocolsaz

Some thirteen cleaners employed by the Department of Infrastructure, Ports, Transport, Physical Development, and Urban Renewal have successfully completed a specialized workshop focused on cleaning protocols for public sector buildings.

Held on Thursday at the Finance Administrative Centre in Castries, the one-day training culminated in the awarding of certificates to participants—formally recognizing their expertise and commitment to maintaining clean, safe, and dignified workspaces that support the Department’s broader goals of sustainable social and economic development.

Facilitated by Dr. Thecla Fitz-Lewis, a certified industry expert and co-manager of Lewis Industries Ltd, the workshop emphasized best practices in sanitation, chemical safety, equipment handling, and the use of appropriate materials.

Participants hailed from Department units across Castries, Dennery, Vieux Fort, Choiseul, and Soufriere. They were reminded that their daily efforts are foundational to the Ministry’s mission—ensuring that every workspace reflects respect, efficiency, and care.

This training forms part of a wider deep cleaning initiative currently underway within the Department, aimed at improving air quality and enhancing the overall work environment. Because when spaces are clean, work becomes easier, healthier, and more productive—for everyone.
