West Indies U-19 captain Joshua Dorne is eager to lead his squad in a seven-match Youth One-Day International series against Sri Lanka, starting on 30 August at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.
Dorne recently captained his team to a regional title and earned the MVP award, bringing confidence to the upcoming challenges. Having participated in the 2024 ICC Men’s U-19 World Cup, Dorne appreciates the heightened competitiveness of the regional tournament, notably with the inclusion of USA teams.
He expressed enthusiasm for the series, seeing it as vital preparation for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in January 2026.
“The main goal is to win the series. If we play well and hit our targets, victory is within reach,” Dorne stated.
The squad has been training in Antigua under head coach Rohan Nurse, fostering a positive and united team environment.
As they gear up for Sri Lanka, Dorne emphasized determination and teamwork: “We are working hard and really want this. My role is to unify the group, as harmony leads to success.”
