The penultimate round of matches in the second stage of the SLFA Inc. Boys Under 12 District League competition sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Development & Sports, National Lotteries Authority & ACADO concluded with some interesting results at the Technical Centre in Grande Riviere over the weekend.
One of the surprise results over the weekend was Mon Repos defeating Central Castries 1-0 on Saturday 6th September. The lone goal scorer was Nyhim Fevriere in the 27th minute.
In the day’s other encounter, Gros Islet also endured a hard fought 1 – 0 victory over Anse La Raye with the decider coming from the boots of Aiden Joseph in the 10th min.
The action continued on Sunday 7th September with two of the scheduled matches materializing.
Soufriere again failed to show for their encounter against Desruisseaux, bringing the number of matches defaulted to four with Soufriere featuring in two of them.
In the day’s opener Roseau Valley had to come from behind after regrouping to hold Vieux Fort South to a 1 – 1 draw.

Jeremiah Savery had earlier given Vieux Fort South the lead in the 17th minute only for Roseau’s Israel Evans to equalise.
In the final encounter of the day, Mabouya Valley maintained their unbeaten streak with a comfortable 2 – 0 victory over Dennery. They got their goals from Keevan Lashley 38th & Zackim Francois 49th minutes.
Thus far, 106 goals have been scored with two hauls, three hat tricks and ten braces recorded.
With the final round of matches left in the second stage of the tournament, the points standing has an interesting read.

To date, Mabouya Valley, the only undefeated team in the competition, while Gros Islet and Vieux Fort South are safely through to the semi finals.
With Central Castries in fourth position on 13 points, Roseau Valley gave themselves a remote mathematical chance of qualifying by drawing with Vieux Fort South in their last encounter.
The final round of matches present some very interesting scenarios.
On Saturday 12th September, Gros Islet plays Central Castries at 10.00 am to be followed by Mabouya Valley up against Roseau Valley. These two matches should finalise the top four advancing teams.
Similarly, on Sunday Vieux Fort South meets Mon Repos at 10.00 am to be followed by Dennery against Desruisseaux with the final preliminary match sees Anse La Raye playing Soufriere.
This past weekend’s round of matches adequately reflect the level of tense competition which continues to manifest itself.
