More Exhilarating Soccer Display at FBL Grounds

Last weekend, the newly refurbished FBL Grounds showcased another thrilling spectacle in the Semi-Professional Football League (SPFL), solidifying its reputation as a fast-paced and energetic venue.

On Sunday, among the front-runners in Tier 1 , Gros Islet and Central Castries engaged in a captivating 2-2 draw before an enthusiastic crowd of supporters from both teams.

It was a definitive showdown, as Central Castries appeared to have the upper hand with Messiah Pinel scoring twice in the 45+1 and 50 th minutes. However, Gros Islet displayed remarkable resilience, with Troy Greenidge equalizing in the 45+3rd minute and Eden Charles leveling the match with a strategic strike in the 73rd minute.

The match was a true spectacle, encompassing the excitement that makes soccer so beloved—goals, drama, and unbridled passion.

Earlier in the double-header, Choiseul demonstrated their scoring dominance with an impressive 6-0 victory over Soufriere. Devin Phillip opened the scoring in the 7th minute, but it was Hanif Antoine’s stellar hat trick, with goals in the 36th, 39th, and 71st minutes, that stole the show.
Arthurton Griffith and Christopher Montoute added to the tally with goals in the 66th and 80th minutes respectively, underscoring the team’s supremacy.

On Saturday, the defending champions, La Clery, asserted their dominance with a commanding 7-1 victory over Mabouya Valley. Malik St. Prix highlighted the evening with a hat trick, scoring in the 6th, 11th, and 32nd minutes.

Uhan Degazon supported with a brace, netting goals in the 14th and 40th minutes, while Yanic Noel and Erickson Magloire completed the rout in the 68th and 72nd minutes. Mabouya managed a consolation goal in the 59th minute through Maius Stanislas , but the match was a demonstration of La Clery’s overwhelming performance.

Earlier, Canaries and Vieux Fort South battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw, with Canaries’ prolific striker Rio Longville breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute, followed by Saviola Elva equalizing for Vieux Fort North in the 61st minute.
