.

The newly refurbished Francis “Baba” Lastic Grounds was alive with energy last weekend, showcasing two thrilling double headers amidst excitement and anticipation.

On Sunday, La Clery and Vieux Fort South engaged in a gripping encounter that ended in a 1-1 draw. The intensity of the match escalated in the closing minutes as both teams fought hard for victory.

Vieux Fort South’s captain and right defender, Kimlan Mason, broke the deadlock with a brilliant run down the flanks in the 85th minute, expertly converting a through pass into the net.

La Clery, undeterred, mounted a fierce response, leading to Ajani Hippolyte stunningly equalizing with an indirect free kick from outside the box in the 88th minute. This dramatic finish highlighted the tight contest’s intensity.

On Saturday, Canaries demonstrated their strength, claiming a commanding 3-1 victory over Soufriere. McArthur Louis provided the western-coast team with a fantastic start, netting two quick goals in the first half, followed by a third from Rio Longville after the break.

Though Soufriere’s Jahzani Henry managed to pull one back late in the game, Canaries secured a decisive victory.

In the evening’s feature match, Gros Islet showcased their resilience, defeating Mabouya Valley 2-1. Jahlil Evans opened the scoring in the 27th minute, and Troy Greenidge extended the lead in the 55th.

Brandon Sandiford scored late for Mabouya in the 88th minute, but Gros Islet held on firmly, clinching all three points in front of their enthusiastic home crowd.

In yesterday’s (Tuesday) fixtures at the FBL Stadium, the Premier League continued with another exciting double header, featuring Micoud against Babonneau, and South Castries taking on Choiseul.

Statistics reveal that South Castries currently sits in 8th position, but only by a superior goal difference over Choiseul, as both teams have amassed 4 points from their first 5 games. A win for either team would propel them past Dennery into 7th position, just one point behind Canaries and with a game in hand.

On Friday, the challenge continues at the FBL Stadium featuring: South Castries vs. Dennery at 9.00 p.m.
