Police have confirmed the death of the second victim from last weekend’s shooting incident at L’Abaye, Bexon. Gregory Felix, 50, of L’Abaye, Bexon, succumbed to his injuries at the OKEU Hospital on September 21.

In a major development, law enforcement has seized a significant cache of drugs and illegal firearms during strategic joint operation raids conducted this week.

On September 18, officers responded promptly to a shooting at L’Abaye, Bexon, Castries, where two men were found with apparent gunshot wounds. They were immediately transported via ambulance to OKEU Hospital. Reo Maximin, 24, of L’Abaye, Bexon, was declared dead at the scene.

Felix, who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, succumbed to his injuries soon after.

On September 23, in a robust effort to combat gun violence across the island, police intensified operations through a series of coordinated early morning raids in Conway, Barnard Hill, and Marchand, Castries.

During these operations, six (6) warrants were executed—two (2) in Marchand and four (4) in Conway/Barnard Hill. Officers also conducted vehicular checkpoints in targeted areas, impounding four (4) vehicles.

As a result of these operations, Malik Philip of Conway was arrested and is currently facing ninety-six (96) charges, including:

– 24 counts of possession of firearm ammunition
– 24 counts of importation of firearms into Saint Lucia
– 24 counts of customs-related offenses for illegally imported goods
– 24 counts of fraudulent evasion under the Customs Act

These charges stem from an intercepted barrel at Port Castries containing firearms, seized through a collaborative effort between the Customs and Excise Department and the Guns, Narcotics and Firearms Unit.

The Special Operations Team, the Guns, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, the Marchand Police Station, the Northern Tactical Team, and the Special Services Unit executed a successful operation.

The RSLPF remains firmly committed to tackling the threat of illegal firearms and ensuring the safety of all citizens. Updates will follow as the matter evolves.

In an unrelated case, Bradley Renee, known as DJ Ratley, has been formally charged with 30 firearm-related offenses following a police search at his premises last week.

Officers seized seven firearms along with multiple firearm parts during the operation. Renee was escorted to court on Monday to face these charges.

Additionally, on September 22, law enforcement successfully recovered two illegal firearms, ammunition, and drugs during a search in Vigier, Vieux-Fort, leading to the arrest of two individuals connected to these seizures.

Social media activity surged on Monday morning when officers conducted follow-up investigations near Cannelles, the site where several bodies were discovered in a vehicle. A senior police officer confirmed ongoing investigations are in progress.

In a significant advancement in regional law enforcement cooperation, Yannick ‘Tiny’ Gustave has been extradited to Martinique to face serious criminal charges, including robbery.

On September 22, Gustave was officially handed over to a French escort team for transfer to Martinique, marking a successful collaboration between the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) and the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF).

The RSLPF is resolutely committed to upholding the rule of law and enhancing international cooperation to combat transnational crime.
