TRINIDADIAN gospel star Sherwin Gardner is set to perform at Bexon Jazz next month.
Slated for May 1, the event (titled ‘Hills & Valleys’) will also feature the likes of Schreffler Maxwell, Manasseh, Malana Stephen, Tabitha Prospere, Donaton, and more.
It’s not just an inspirational show, but “a movement that unites,” collaborator, Solange Edward, said at the launch on Wednesday.
“Last year we witnessed history. Thousands gathered under the stars swaying to the melodies of Emrand Henry,” and other musicians, she noted.
“The event is a beacon of inclusivity [and] a world-class experience offered freely to all ensuring that every soul… can bask in the glow of our shared heritage,” Edward added.
Moreover, she stated, it’s a catalyst for economic activity and it empowers local vendors and businesses.
“It’s amazing what a little idea… can become,” Castries South East MP Joachim Henry said at the launch.
“Just being part of this initiative is so humbling. The people who are putting this together I give all credit to,” he added.
Henry said that the ‘Hills & Valleys’ concert “will… become bigger and better and I’m sure our children… will be inspired to become great artists themselves.”
Shem Beroo, Vice Chairperson of the ‘Hills & Valleys’ Events Committee, said what makes the show special “is not that we have a world-class performer [and]… incredible singers from the community… but the incredible team of passionate individuals who have been working tirelessly since 2024 to curate a wonderful programme for May 1. The way the community has come together … is amazing.”
The event will unfold on the Bexon Playing Field.
As the jazz fever heightens, the community of Micoud is getting set to host ‘Jazz En Vierge’ – with Jamaican reggae sensation Sanchez headlining the event.
Heart and Soul, Invasion Band, Shane Ross and others are scheduled to perform at the concert on Sunday, April 27.
