Young and talented Saint Lucian swimmer Sapphire Parks emerged as a standout performer at the Carifta Aquatic Championships at the Aquatic Centre in Couva, Trinidad & Tobago.
On Easter Sunday, the Montessori School student and Sea Jays swimmer showcased her exceptional skills, clinching two gold medals and a bronze. Her performance was a key factor in boosting Saint Lucia’s medal count to seven after just two days of competition at the National Aquatic Centre in Couva.
Parks secured both a silver and bronze on the opening day of her Carifta debut, but she truly excelled on Sunday. She first claimed gold in the 11-12 Girls’ 100m backstroke with an impressive time of 1:10.76.

She followed that achievement with another gold in the 400m individual medley, clocking 5:37.47, and rounded out her remarkable haul with a bronze in the 200m freestyle at 2:20.91.
In the 15-17 Boys’ category, Tristan Dorville and Antoine Destang made their mark by reaching multiple finals. Dorville secured a bronze in the 50m butterfly with a time of 24.93 seconds, just ahead of Destang in fourth place.
Destang also delivered a strong performance, finishing fifth in the 200m freestyle.
Meanwhile, Jayden Xu showcased his talent with a fifth-place finish in the 13-14 Boys’ 100m backstroke.
