Team Saint Lucia will take on today the formidable Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) as the 21st Jean Pierre Caribbean Youth Netball Tournament unfolds at the Wildey Gymnasium in Barbados.
With two wins and a loss, Saint Lucia is poised to give a strong performance in today’s match scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and Barbados will clash with Grenada at 6:45 p.m.
The excitement has been palpable, especially following an intense night of netball on Thursday. After achieving two impressive back-to-back victories, Team Saint Lucia faced a tough challenge against Barbados, ultimately suffering a 33-21 defeat.
The players delivered a determined effort, buoyed by a passionate group of supporters. Despite the loss, they demonstrated resilience against the strong Barbados team.
The Day 4 game results were as follows:
– Grenada 31 vs. Antigua & Barbuda 14
– Trinidad & Tobago 44 vs. Dominica 13
On Tuesday, Saint Lucia secured a decisive victory against Dominica with a score of 35-19, marking their second consecutive win in the tournament.
In this match, Saint Lucia held a slim 7-6 lead after the first quarter and expanded their advantage to 18-12 by halftime, outshooting Dominica 13-7 in the second period. Although Dominica fought hard, they struggled to penetrate Saint Lucia’s tight defense, ultimately losing steam in the final quarter.
With unwavering support from their fanbase, Saint Lucia dominated the last period against Dominica, holding their opponents to just three shots while netting 9 out of 14 attempts.
Naija Ferdinand’s performance stood out at 21/27 overall, while Clarise Nevais excelled with 14/17 overall.
Team Saint Lucia took on Grenada yesterday evening. Other match fixtures included Dominica vs. Antigua and Barbuda, and Barbados vs. T&T.
