The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force successfully executed a two-day traffic enforcement initiative, “OPERATION SOUTH BLOCK” conducted over the weekend in the island’s Southern Region.
The operation, held on Saturday, April 12th, and Sunday, April 13th, 2025, was spearheaded by the Police Mobile Station, with operational support from the Gangs, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit South and the Special Services Unit (SSU) South.
The primary objectives of the operation were to:
1.Enhance road safety
2.Deter criminal activity through stop-and-search tactics
3. Ensure compliance with traffic laws and vehicle regulations
During the operation, officers noted a significant number of vehicles with illegally tinted windows and drivers operating without licenses, several motorists were non-compliant with basic traffic regulations, underscoring the need for continued and sustained enforcement. Public cooperation varied, but law enforcement’s presence on major roadways was a deterrent to reckless driving and other illegal activities.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force remains committed to protecting lives and property, promoting road safety, and strengthening law and order across the island. Operations of this nature will continue as part of a broader strategy to foster a culture of compliance and responsible driving.
