A coordinated operation between the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit (South) and the Customs and Excise Department resulted in the arrest of James Samuel, a resident of Vige, Micoud, following a major drug interception at the Vieux Fort Wharf.
The operation was launched after Customs officials discovered 697 grams of cannabis and 990 grams of cannabis resin concealed in two tins of juice within a barrel shipped from Canada. The barrel, which also contained food and toiletry items, was consigned to James Samuel. James Samuel was present during the recovery and was immediately taken into custody.
A follow-up search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence in Vige, Micoud, where officers recovered an additional 530 grams of cannabis and 564 cannabis plants, which were eradicated from the premises.
James Samuel was formally charged for the following;
- Possession of Controlled Drugs – Cannabis (2 counts)
- Possession with Intent to Supply – Cannabis (2 counts)
- Possession of Controlled Drugs – Cannabis Resin
- Possession with Intent to Supply – Cannabis Resin
- Importation of Cannabis
- Importation of Cannabis Resin
- Cultivation of a Controlled Plant – Cannabis
On Tuesday, April 8th, 2025 he was taken before the 2nd district court where he was bailed in the sum of $12,000.00.
