Dominica On Top in WICB Under-19 Cricket Championships

FOLLOWING Round 4 of the 2025 WINLOTT WICB Under-19 Cricket Championships in Grenada, Dominica solidified its lead in the rankings by defeating St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) at the Tanteen Recreational Ground on Thursday.

SVG won the toss and decided to bat first on a firm, dry surface. Devonte MacDowall led SVG’s scoring with 30 runs, followed by Kevin Shallow with 23 and Damali Phillips with 14.

However, SVG was quickly dismissed for 99 in 35.5 overs. The team’s play quickly worsened, going from 26 for 4 to all out for 99 runs.

Winlott, Man of the Match Kester Lestrade was important in the triumph, going 3 for 11, followed by Darin Toussaint (2 for 19), Joel Durand (2 for 29), and Kenneth Valmond (2 for 37).

Dominica responded by losing an early wicket at 8/1, but skipper Stephan Pascal anchored the innings with an outstanding 68*, leading his team to a dominant 9-wicket victory.
On the other hand, Team Saint Lucia has suffered in this year’s campaign, with only one win and two losses.

Grenada defeated Saint Lucia by six wickets on Thursday on the fourth day of play at the La Sagesse Playing Field.

After winning the toss, Saint Lucia batted but were easily dismissed for 99 in 32.1 overs. Kirt Murray, a left-arm spinner, was dominant, taking 3 for 26 in 10 overs. Desron Mitchell (2 for 9), Clevon Bartholomew (2 for 15), and Jumal Francis (1 for 15) all contributed significantly.

Theo Edward, Saint Lucia’s captain, scored the most points with 32, followed by Kensley Paul with 12 and Jonathan Daniel with 10. The side steadily lost wickets, progressing from 24 for 1 to 80 for 5 before being bowled out for 99.

Grenada held off early pressure from Saint Lucia, losing wickets at 1/15, 2/33, 3/67, and 4/99. Winlott Man of the Match Kirt Murray led the batting with 23 runs, followed by Rickell Sylvester with 21 and skipper Kirtsen Murray with 20, while extras provided 16 runs, consisting of 13 wides and 3 no balls.

Bowling for Saint Lucia, Isaiah Jones went 2 for 20 and Tyler Venner went 1 for 6, but Grenada dashed Saint Lucia’s hopes of winning the tournament.
As of Wednesday, the points standings show that defending champions Grenada are in third position with two points from three games, one win and two losses, with a Net Run Rate of 0.33.

Dominica leads the standings with four points from three matches, including one loss and two victories, with a Net Run Rate of 0.603. St. Vincent and the Grenadines is in second place, with four points from three games, one defeat, two wins, and a Net Run Rate of -0.537.

Saint Lucia is at the bottom of the standings, with two points from three matches, one victory and two losses, for a Net Run Rate of -0.346.
