The Government of Saint Lucia in partnership with the Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO), and through the Saint Lucia Social Development Fund (SSDF), successfully accessed financing made available by the Caribbean Development Bank’s Basic Needs Trust Fund (10th Cycle) to improve the water supply in Victoria, Choiseul.

A fully operationalized and state-of-the-art 100,000-gallon water tank facility now sits at the apex of Victoria, ready to deliver a reliable supply of pipe-borne water directly to hundreds of homes and businesses in several communities throughout Victoria, including Belle Vue, Dacretin, Derriere Morne, Morne Sion, Fond Cacoa, Bois Den and Mongouge.

Climate change affects water levels in catchment facilities and natural streams throughout the island during the annual dry season. The project strengthens the national water infrastructure network and enhances water storage capacity to give residents of Victoria a more consistent and reliable pipe-borne water supply.
