Team Saint Lucia Finishes 6th in Goodwill Swimming Championships

Saint Lucia’s 40-member team finished sixth at the recently concluded Goodwill Swimming Championship held at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre from August 16 to 18.

Team Saint Lucia accumulated 443 points and captured 19 medals, 7 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze.

The Medal winners are Sapphire Parks, 5 gold, 4 silver, and a New Meet Record in the 9-10 Girls 100 meters Fly in a time of 1:10.32 seconds; Miles Andrew, 2 gold, 3 silver; Aniyah George, 1 silver; Maya Andrew, 1 bronze; Sylvester James, 1 bronze, Michael Romero, 1 bronze and the 11-12 Boys 400 meters Medley Relay Team (Caden Calderon, Nathan Lewis, Michael Romero and Sylvester James) 1 bronze.

Defending champions Bahamas amassed an impressive 1,485.50 points, leaving their closest competitors, Trinidad and Tobago, trailing significantly with 902.50 points, Barbados with 894 points, Jamaica with 798 points, and Suriname with 473 points – rounded off the top five spots.

The Bahamian contingent not only secured the top spot but also shattered multiple records in the process, collecting 55 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze medals, underscoring their superiority over the three days of competition.
