NWU to Government Negotiating Team: Speed Up Negotiations

Vern Gill, Chairman of the Government Negotiating Team was recently reminded of the discontent that exist with the delay in having the negotiations between Government and the National Workers Union resolved in a speedy manner.

Johann M. Harewood, Secretary General of the National Workers Union (NWU) was the person who dispatched the reminder, stating that the lull in negotiations was an “inordinate delay”.

“The parties met months ago and discussed the Memorandum of Proposals submitted by the NWU on behalf of its members.  The NWU has since then been anxiously awaiting some positive feedback from the Government Negotiating Team that would lead to the culmination of negotiations,” Harewood stated in a press release.

The last agreement between Government and the NWU expired end of March 2022. The NWU is of the strong opinion that every effort should be made to complete these outstanding negotiations and implement the benefits, given the current economic and social climate confronting workers.

The NWU represents hourly, daily paid and non-establishment workers employed with Government and the Town and Village Councils.
