The Saint Lucia Athletes’ Commission (SLAC), in partnership with the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee Inc. (SLOC), is thrilled to announce the National Athletes’ Forum set to take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024. The forum will be held at the Bel Jou Hotel Conference Room from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This year’s forum, themed “Empowering Excellence: Strategies for Capacity Building in Sports and Athletes,” aims to advance the knowledge and development of athletes across Saint Lucia by providing invaluable insights into a range of topics vital to their growth and success.
Key forum highlights include:
• Role of Athletes’ Commission: Exploring how the Athletes’ Commission can better serve and represent athletes’ interests.
• Mental Health: Addressing mental well-being and strategies to support athletes in maintaining optimal psychological health.
• Safeguarding: Ensuring the protection and safety of athletes within sports environments.
• Career Development & Transition: Offering guidance on career planning and transitioning from active competition to new professional pathways.
• Anti-Doping: Providing updates and education on anti-doping regulations to ensure fair play.
• Olympic Day Activities: Celebrating and understanding the significance of Olympic Day within the local and global sports community.
• Interactive Sessions and Discussions: Roundtable discussions on athlete mentoring, community engagement, volunteering, life skills development, Athlete365, and future forum topics.
Attendees will gain insights from expert speakers, participate in dynamic discussions, and engage with fellow stakeholders in the sports community.
