CariGenetics is proud to announce its recent sponsorship of GenTech Analytica’s BioSci Series, a two-week educational programme designed to ignite a passion for genetics and bioinformatics among young minds in Saint Lucia.
Held from 22 July to 2 August 2024, this initiative aimed to inspire the next generation of scientists who will shape the future of healthcare and biotechnology in the Caribbean.
The BioSci Series brought together students from various secondary schools in Saint Lucia, offering them a unique opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of genetics. The programme covered a broad range of topics, including the intricacies of DNA, cytogenetics, and Mendelian inheritance. Participants engaged in hands-on activities such as building DNA models, analysing karyotypes, and conducting virtual labs, providing a comprehensive and immersive learning experience.

Due to the great feedback received from the students in the BioSci Series, CariGenetics and GenTech Analytica have decided to extend their partnership to launch the Gene Explorers Network (GEN). GEN will offer monthly in-person laboratory sessions using miniPCR learning kits. This initiative will provide students with even more hands-on experience, further deepening their understanding and passion for genetics.
