Action continued, last weekend, in the KFC National Basketball League with doubleheaders at the Vigie Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday.
In Game 1 on Friday, Morne Gladiators made easy work of BFTF Juniors with a 77 – 60 triumph.
KFC Player of the Game Lanse Prospere finished with 23 pts, 3 rebs and 2 steals. Kevin Lesporis scored 14 pts and 11 rebs, while Keegan Preville got 12 pts, 7 rebs and 6 steals. For BFTF Juniors, Darnel Amedee had 22 pts, 7 rebs and 5 steals, and Cletuson Leon contributed 15 pts and 17 rebs.
Game 2 was more evenly matched between BFTF Seniors and Courts Jets. Courts Jets overcame a 12-point deficit at the start of the 4th quarter and won by 7 pts., with a 63 – 56 victory over BFTF Seniors securing their first win in this year’s tournament.
KFC Player of the Game Ron Dumurville showed his complete repertoire registering the first triple double of this year’s league with 16 pts, 15 rebs and 10 steals in a losing effort. Jervais Antoine also added 13 pts and 11 rebs for BFTF. Ryan Philgence had a game high with 24 pts and 14 rebs for Courts Jets.
Game 1 on Saturday saw defending champions Bonne Terre Blazers getting past Combined Schools easily with an 87 – 66 score. KFC Player of the Game Andre Louison finished with 24 pts and 4 steals. His brother Troy Louison matched his contribution with 24 pts and 6 steals to get them the win. For Combined Schools, Jazinian Blanchard had 14 pts and 9 rebs. Rayquan Francis registered a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebs in the loss for the youngsters from Combined Schools.
In Game 2, W Mart’s ECA faced off against Soufriere Kings with the Sulphur City lads routing ECA 81 – 45. KFC Player of the Game Sydney Didier finished with 23 pts, 8 rebs and 4 assists.
Inspirational leader Linzel Alcee had an impressive showing with 18 pts, 13 rebs and 8 steals, two steals shy of a triple double. Kimo Charles also had impressive figures of 19 pts and 11 assists for the Kings. Jean Michael Eloise top scored for ECA with 18 pts and 5 steals while Kyanni Edwin had 13 pts and 4 rebs.
The league breaks off for the St. Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival and will resume on Tuesday, May 14, with a rescheduled game between Soufriere Kings and Bonne Terre Blazers at 7:00 p.m. at the Vigie Sports Complex.
