The Marchand community last week lost one of its oldest residents, Iris James, whose passing evoked sentimental emotions in the area.
She was 105 years old.
Ms. Iris as she was affectionately known celebrated her 105th birthday last November, in the midst of community residents, and student nurses from the Sir Arthur Community College (SALCC).
A resident from the area recalls that, “On that faithful morning, the always loud and jovial voice of Ms. Iris was laid silent.”
The former resident from the Bagatelle community died at the St. Lucy’s Home, at Bishop Gap.
