The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Site is excited to announce a Toastmasters International Open House session for students on Wednesday 24th January 2024. The event will take place at the Morne Fortune site from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m., providing an excellent opportunity for current students in Senate-approved programmes and Continuing and Professional Education courses (CPE) to discover the benefits of Toastmasters. The presenting club will be the Saint Lucia Public Service Toastmasters Club.

Toastmasters International is a renowned organization designed to improve one’s communication and leadership skills through its proven educational programmes. The Open House at The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Site will showcase the dynamic and supportive environment that Toastmasters offers, where individuals can enhance their public speaking, presentation, and leadership abilities.

This Open House will take place in a phased approach targeting past students in Phase 1 and current students in Phase 2. Faculty and staff are welcome to join any of the group sessions.
During the Open House, attendees will have the opportunity to:

  1. Experience Toastmasters in Action: Witness live speeches and impromptu speaking exercises.
  2. Learn About the Programmes: Discover the various educational programme and resources available.
  3. Meet Experienced Toastmasters: Engage with seasoned Toastmasters and Distinguished members who will share their personal experiences and success stories about the programme and the opportunities available to represent the club in various competitions.
  4. Participate in Q&A Sessions: Ask questions and gain insights into how a Toastmasters club can benefit students both personally and professionally.

Students attached to The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Site in search of resources to improve their soft skills are invited to experience the invaluable resources that Toastmasters has to offer.

“Students are often faced with opportunities to communicate with classmates from various cultures; some may experience challenges in expressing themselves confidently in such groups, despite everyone sharing the same goal. Toastmasters will help students gain the confidence required to present and participate not only in the online environment but also in other professional settings. A new club will also serve as a co-curricular club that brings past and current students together, resulting in an excellent opportunity to socialize and network. We are therefore excited to introduce Toastmasters and its numerous benefits to both past and current students,” Siguthani Bryan, Outreach and Marketing Officer, The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Site.

Students are encouraged to RSVP for the Open House by Tuesday 23rd January, 2024 by filling out the form sent to their email addresses. For more information please contact Siguthani Bryan at [email protected] or call 724-2160.
