Police Seize Guns, Ammunition, Drugs in Joint Operation

Police Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Departments in Castries and Gros Islet, others from the Gros Islet Patrol Team, the Special Patrol Team, Bicycle Patrol Unit and Traffic Enforcement Team, early yesterday morning seized guns, ammunitions and drugs from houses located in Jacmel, Careillie and Beausejour.

The joint operation targeted the Northern and Central Divisions of the island and was designed to tackle and mitigate a range of crime-related and public safety concerns in that part of the island.

During the operation, seven Search Warrants were executed and four individuals were apprehended.

A house in Jacmel, quarter of Anse La Raye was searched, resulting in the discovery and seizure of one 9mm pistol and eight rounds of 9mm ammunition. Two individuals were arrested for the offences of Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

A house in Careillie, Castries was searched resulting in the discovery and seizure of one Glock 9mm pistol and seventeen rounds of 9mm ammunition. One individual was arrested for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

Police searched a house in Beausejour, Gros-Islet and discovered and seized a quantity of cannabis resin. One individual was arrested for the offences of Possession of Controlled Drug and Possession with Intent to Supply to Another. The individual was also arrested on a Commitment Warrant for Failing to Comply with a Court Order, after he was convicted for Possession of Firearm in the year 2021.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force wants (RSLPF) to reassure the citizens of Saint Lucia that, despite the attempts by a few to create fear through their unlawful actions, they remain steadfast in their mission to uphold justice.

“We will not be deterred by the actions of those who disregard the sanctity of life. We have been, and will persistently carry out strategic operations to disrupt the activities of those who thrive on crime. Rest assured, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is committed to maintaining Saint Lucia as a haven of safety for everyone,” the RSLPF said in a statement yesterday.

The RSLPF also called on Saint Lucians to continue cooperating and sharing information with them saying that this is crucial in their collective effort to bring offenders to justice.

“Remember, if you spot it, report it!” the RSLPF noted in its release.
