Man Charged for Robbery and Use of Imitation Firearm

A 54-year-old from La Croix, Babonneau has been arrested and charged with robbery and using an imitation firearm.

Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department in Castries received a report on Tuesday, January 9, 2024  at about 12:15pm of a Robbery at Bocage, Castries.

The officers responded promptly and initiated an investigation in the process. According to a police press release the officers’ diligent efforts resulted in the arrest of a suspect, who has been identified as Mervin Amedee, also known as Bamboo, a resident of La Croix, Babonneau. Police say they recovered an imitation firearm during the investigation.

On Thursday, January 11, 2024 Mervin Amedee was charged for the offences of Robbery and Using an Imitation Firearm to Commit Robbery.

He was escorted to the First District Court in Castries for the purpose of bail. The court set bail at fifteen thousand dollars cash, suitable surety or land documents.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force says it is dedicated to ensuring that those who engage in criminal activities are brought to justice swiftly.
