On Sunday, December 31, 2023, about 5:00 p.m., the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Castries received and responded to a report of a stabbing on Manoel Street, Castries. The victim, thirty-year-old Shayn Edwin, was conveyed to the Owen King European Union (OKEU) Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, the Major Crimes Unit arrested, twenty-six-year-old Marcel Demille of Hospital Road, Castries. Marcel Demille was subsequently charged for the murder of Shayn Edwin.
On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Marcel Demille was taken before the First District Court in Castries for the purpose of bail. He was remanded at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
