The Royal Saint Lucia Police (RSLPF) Force recently met with stakeholders to discuss crime trends, possible interventions and solutions, the RSLPF revealed Friday.
The activity, initiated by Commissioner of Police, Crusita Descartes-Pelius, included members of various faith-based organizations, the business fraternity, the arts community, youth groups, government agencies, medical professionals, law enforcement entities and other groups.
According to the RSLPF, the meeting was critical in recognizing the causes of crime and creating meaningful changes in the fight against crime.
“The activity formed part of the first phase of consultations geared towards creating a Crime Action Plan through collaborations which would see not only immediate social interventions, but also long-term measures such as possible educational reform and opportunities,” the RSLPF noted in a post.
Further, “the Commissioner and by extension the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force thanks all who participated in this venture. Such collaborations take us one step closer towards achieving our goal of creating a safer Saint Lucia.”
Last month, the RSLPF, under the leadership of Descartes-Pelius, announced the successful conclusion of a strategic meeting held with senior members of the organization.
The primary objective of the meeting was to ensure that the Force remains at the forefront of safeguarding lives, the RSLPF said. The discussions encompassed a range of topics related to public safety, law enforcement, and community engagement, reflecting the Force’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its mandate.
“This pivotal gathering took place on Tuesday, October 31 and focused on enhancing current crime-fighting strategies and addressing matters of national security. Commissioner Pelius emphasized the vital role that the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force plays in maintaining the safety and security of Saint Lucia’s residents and visitors,” the RSLPF said in a Facebook post, adding that Descartes-Pelius “reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, discipline and accountability.”
