Dennery and La Clery were among the big winners from the quarter-final action in this season’s Blackheart Football Tournament [BKF] at the Soufriere Mini Stadium last weekend, with teams battling it out to make the next cut.

On Sunday, Dennery beat Desruisseaux 2-1 to qualify for a semi-final spot.

Though Dennery failed to capitalise on some early chances, nonetheless, the east-coast-based champion side took the lead over their neighbours through Jamie Prospere in the 19th minute.

Desruisseaux equalized minutes later as Gerlanne converted from the penalty spot in the 24th  minute . They put up with some sustained pressure from Dennery and defended stoutly but eventually faltered as striker Ridel Stanislas was fouled in the box.

Dennery skipper Kurt Fredrick stepped up to slot in neatly from the spot in the 82nd minute to take his side to the semi-finals.

La Clery triumphed against Vieux Fort South with a thumping 5-0 win in emphatic style to knock the stuffings out of the former BKF southern champions and clinch a decisive semi-final spot.  La Clery are this year’s BKF Big 8 Champions and will fancy their chances of making a bid for the major championship title at stake , with their good run of form paying dividends.

In other results, Soufriere had to dig deep to get past Babonneau 3-2, in a tough fight-back encounter; while Canaries beat Marchand 1-0, Mabouya Valley took down Vieux Fort North 2-0, and Gros Islet defeated Laborie 3-1 to get to the next round.

Today (Wednesday), the remaining quarter-final matches at the Soufriere Mini Stadium will feature:

Mabouya Valley vs. Canaries -7 p.m.

Soufriere vs. Gros Islet- 9 p.m.

Meanwhile, BKF tournament organisers are pleased with the ‘large turnout’ of fans, football lovers, and supporters generally that turn up for the games to add more thrills and excitement to the popular off-season knockout soccer challenge.
