
THE semi-finals challenge in this season’s Blackheart Knockout Football tournament kicks off today (Saturday) at the Soufriere Mini- Stadium with some block-buster action anticipated as the top four teams square off in a bid to qualify as finalists.
The matchups will feature, two former BKF champions with Dennery playing against their eastern-coast neighbours Mabouya Valley; while Soufriere takes on La Clery in the other encounter.
On Wednesday, the BKF quarter-finals, at the Soufriere Mini-Stadium resulted in Mabouya defeating Canaries 2-1in a thrilling encounter; while Soufriere edged past Gros Islet 1-0 in a tightly fought contest.
Other quarter-final match results were as follows:
– Dennery vs. Desruisseaux 2-1
– La Clery vs. Vieux Fort South 5-0
The stage is set as teams mount their challenge for a finalist’s spot and an opportunity to play for the coveted BKF championship title, which commences at the DSCG, on September 30.
According to BKF organisers, the finals is expected to be a grand affair, featuring the championship match and third place playoffs; and with a Peace and Unity Concert featuring top international and local artistes performing at the event.
