THE Vieux Fort Rising Again Committee will tomorrow, Sunday 23rd July implement another one of its strategic interventions. This will take the form of a Discussion Forum scheduled for 4:00 to 6:30pm at the Greene Building Meeting Room (upstairs the Vieux Fort Police Station).
Five Panellists comprising: a business man; a youth representative; a retired educator; a senior counsellor and a spiritual leader will address the topic: “The impact of violent crime on the economic and social Development of Vieux Fort”.
The objectives established for the Discussion Forum are outlined as follows:
– Promote structured and formal discussion on the issue of violent crime in Vieux Fort.
– Facilitate a broader consultative and participatory approach to examination of the problem of violent crime in Vieux Fort.
– Undertake critical analysis and put forward workable recommendations.
Quite apart from presentations from the five panellists, persons attending the Discussion Forum will be invited to participate and contribute to the discourse.
A report on the Discussion Forum with related recommendations will be formulated and submitted to relevant Government and Non-Governmental agencies. Persons attending the Forum will get the opportunity to win vouchers from KFC, Domino Pizza and Massy Stores.
The Discussion Forum on the Socio-economic impact of violent crime on the town of Vieux Fort will be carried live via the Good Morning Saint Lucia Facebook page. The host of the Good Morning Saint Lucia Television Show, Mr. Shannon Lebourne will serve as the Moderator for the forum.
