Regional Business Chamber Elects Two Women to Top Posts

THE Network of Caribbean Chambers of Commerce (CARICHAM) elected two women to the top posts in the regional organization. This historic move marked a significant step forward for gender equality and female leadership in the Caribbean business landscape.

Ms. Petipha Lewis, an experienced business professional and the Executive Director of the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce, emerged uncontested as the newly elected Chair of CARICHAM. Ms. Lewis, renowned for her exceptional leadership skills and extensive experience in promoting business growth, brings a wealth of expertise and a fresh perspective to her role. Her vision for the organization emphasizes the importance of inclusivity and unity among member nations.

Mrs. Kim Aikman, an accomplished professional and the Executive Director of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was elected as Vice-Chair. Mrs. Aikman’s leadership has been instrumental in the explosive growth and expanded influence of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry over the past several years.

The election of both Ms. Lewis and Mrs. Aikman marks a significant milestone in the history of CARICHAM, as it is the first time that the two top posts in the regional organization are filled by women. Mr. Jayant “Anil” Padarath, the President of the Suriname Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will also serve on the executive team as the Immediate Past Chair. The newly elected executive team is poised to lead CARICHAM in advancing its mission to foster business development and cooperation across the Caribbean.
