Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Public Relations staffers Jacqueline Emmanuel, Kenrick Haynes, Richard Moss, Kenya James, Maria Hunte, Racquel John, Jenella Auguste, Christopher Gustave, Geraine Georges, and Rondel Charlery, have each received certificates for successfully completing a programme focused on sustainable tourism destination management through the International Institute of Tourism Studies at George Washington University. The Course provided participants with a strategic overview of responsible destination management along with practical applications.

Marketing Officer, Jenella Auguste and Sales Officer, Racquel John have earned certificates for courses on tourism and marketing promotion in the “new normal” and branding and marketing of products with local resources, respectively, from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

“The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority is strongly dedicated to developing its human resources and promoting sustainable tourism in Saint Lucia. We are proud to recognize the success of these outstanding employees and are confident that these new developed skills will be instrumental in ensuring a flourishing, sustainable future for our country’s tourism industry,” remarked Lorine Charles St Jules, Chief Executive Officer.

This is demonstrated by Racquel John’s recent trip to Japan through JICA where she presented Saint Lucia’s tourism sector in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and discussed countermeasures to mitigate the negative impacts, a business continuity plan for tourism industries, and workflows for the preparation of a tourism marketing plan.

“I am filled with immense pride, growth, and maturity, having completed these courses which pushed me to confront present issues and the ever-changing future. The best part was meeting and collaborating with international experts, which allowed me to take local projects to higher levels, all the while safeguarding the community, environment, and industry,” Auguste said.

Through the completion of these educational programs, the Authority is confident that these staff members are well-equipped to understand the sensibility of tourism and its impact on the broader development of Saint Lucia as a responsible and sustainable tourist destination.
