On Saturday 8 April, 2023 about 10:15 p.m. Officers of the Police Marine Unit, Vieux Fort recovered a quantity of Controlled Drugs during an interception of a vessel at sea near the Gros Piton, Soufriere.
Officers intercepted a vessel named “Twilight” whilst on patrol about six nautical miles South-west of Beaumont Point, near the Piton. There were two persons on board the vessel. The vessel was stopped and boarded, and three packages suspected to be Cannabis were recovered.
The two individuals, identified as Ashley Joseph of Soufriere and Junior George of Rockhall, Castries were arrested and formally charged for the Possession of Controlled Drugs and Intent to Supply to Another. They were taken to the Second District Court and each granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for Possession of Controlled Drugs and $15,000 for Intent to Supply to Another to be paid in cash or suitable surety and other bail conditions.
